Product Description

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Le Poissenot" from Domaine Humbert Frères is a Premier Cru Pinot Noir of serious finesse and detail. Located just above the grand cru vineyard of Mazis-Chambertin on the mid-slope of the Côte Saint-Jacques, Le Poissenot is known for its elegance and mineral energy—making it one of the more refined 1er Crus in the appellation.

Crafted from mature vines in limestone-rich soils, this wine benefits from a careful, traditional approach: native yeast fermentation, gentle extraction, and aging in French oak barrels to bring out the purity and depth of this terroir.

  • Sourced from Premier Cru "Le Poissenot" vineyard, east-facing slope above Mazis

  • Low yields from old vines on rocky limestone soils

  • Indigenous yeast fermentation

  • Aged 14–16 months in French oak barrels (approx. 40% new)

  • Unfiltered bottling for maximum aromatic precision and structure

Tasting Notes

Aromas: Red cherry, raspberry, rose petals, crushed rock, and subtle spice
Palate: Silky and layered, with ripe red fruit, fine tannins, and elegant minerality
Finish: Long and precise, with lifted acidity and lingering savory depth

Serving Suggestions

Serve at 15–17 °C. Decanting for 45–60 minutes is recommended to unlock full aromatic complexity.

Pairs beautifully with:

  • Duck breast with cherry reduction

  • Herb-crusted veal or roasted quail

  • Porcini mushroom risotto

  • Aged cheeses such as Beaufort or aged Brie de Meaux
