Product Description

The Clos Napoléon is a historic monopole vineyard entirely owned by Domaine Pierre Gelin, and has long been recognized as one of the most iconic sites in Fixin. Planted on a slope of shallow limestone and marl just above the village, this walled vineyard produces wines of impressive focus and longevity.

The 2021 vintage, cooler and more classical in profile, emphasizes the site’s clarity and minerality. Hand-harvested and vinified with indigenous yeasts, the wine is aged for about 16 months in French oak barrels (30% new). The result is a structured and age-worthy Pinot Noir, deeply expressive of its terroir.

Tasting Notes

Aromas: Wild strawberry, sour cherry, dried rose, earthy spice, and a hint of flint
Palate: Taut and elegant, with vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and layers of red fruit and crushed rock
Finish: Long, stony, and persistent with a savory, slightly saline edge
